We were happy to see the results that compare Spheryx’s xSight, using Total Holographic Characterization, to other technologies.
From the article abstract:
“In this study, we examined the feasibility of Raman microscopy, backgrounded membrane imaging (BMI) and total holographic characterization (THC) on the detection of FFA sub-visible particles (SVPs). The results indicate that THC is the most sensitive technique to track their occurrence during the course of PS hydrolysis. Moreover, with this technique we are able to distinguish different stages of FFA particle formation in the medium.”

New Software Release for Spheryx’s xSight Increases Particle Characterization Measurement Speed by 20%
Spheryx’s new software release reduces the time it takes for xSight to characterize particles by 20% as measured from the time the user pushes “start” until the analysis is complete.
New York, NY – Spheryx announces a new software release for xSight, its particle characterization instrument. xSight is known for its unique ability to evaluate complex heterogeneous mixtures of particles using the particle index of refraction. The new software release reduces measurement time by 20% on a standard sample of silicone oil and protein aggregates at concentrations of 105 particles/mL. Particle measurement time is measured from the time the user presses start until the analysis is complete. This standard sample has a wide range of particle sizes (500 nm to 10 µm), and different particle types (spherical and irregularly shaped particles), and is in the mid-range of concentrations (104 – 106 particles/mL) measured by Spheryx’s xSight. The improvement is dependent on the type of particles in the sample and the concentration of particles. Samples with higher concentrations can see a larger reduction in measurement time, some as much as 50%. Also included in the new software release is enhanced noise reduction which is particularly important for sensitive detection of small particles. New Software Release for Spheryx’s xSight, its Particle Characterization Instrument, Delivers a 4th Dimension of Information
Spheryx adds particle symmetry to particle size, particle composition and particle concentration in their new software release that enhances xSight.
New York, NY – Spheryx announces a new release of software for xSight, its particle characterization instrument. xSight is known for its unique ability to evaluate particle composition in complex samples containing multiple different particles types using the particle index of refraction. Spheryx’s new software release adds another dimension of information to results provided by xSight: particle symmetry. With this release xSight delivers four dimensions of information about particles in the critical size range of 500 nm to 10 µm: size, composition, concentration and symmetry. All of these parameters can be determined simultaneously for multiple particle types, even when they are the same size. This capability has immediate application in the biologic pharmaceutical industry where the ability to distinguish symmetric inert emulsion droplets from irregularly shaped and dangerous protein aggregates is of paramount importance. In many other industries, particle characterization is enhanced by knowledge about the particle shape as well.
